Let's clear the air pretty quick, I am what you would call an Anderson Silva fan boy. Huge fan and yes he pretty much walks on water for me. You could even go to the "nut hugger" comment and you know what?? I love it.

I have been a fan of his ever since he destroyed Chris Leben after everyone that I know said he couldn't. Yes I have had the pleasure of seeing him fight some of the best fights in the UFC. His battles with Rich Franklin and Henderson come to mind as I type this. I have also had to live the lows as well; Maia and the first fight with Sonnen come to mind here.

I am also known for not being the biggest Sonnen fan. In fact, I have had a fan hatred for him for a long time. All the talk, all the insults and all of the absolute bullshit that he and his "nut hugger" fans spewed was way too much. And I got angry, I keyboard warrior typed why they were wrong and I was right. And I did it like a machine, but you know what, none of that mattered. Because this Past Saturday, the cage closed and the score was settled.

There is no question that Sonnen won that first round, he went right back to the last fight and took Silva down, but this time, although he controlled he didn't do any real damage. Silva had a great defence and minimized any attack. Then the second round started and Silva went into beast mode. Did you notice we put his back to the fence to stop Sonnen from driving his shoulder into him and taking him down? Missed that?? You should re-watch it. Was a thing of beauty? See this is where I am going to stop talking about the fight as there have been many great articles on it and I let the experts talk about that. What I want to talk about is the end of the fight after Silva's arm was raised.

Two things happened:

First thing is that Silva decided to go the route of talking to Brazil and saying that Sonnen isn't that bad, hell he invited him to a bbq (Sonnen face was awesome when he heard that). The 2nd (which has surprised me the most) is that Sonnen made no excuses. I was fully expecting this to go the other way. I expected Silva to rip into Sonnen for all of the insults and pretty much degrade him and then I was ready for Sonnen to talk about how the sun was in his eyes or that he didn't know not defending lost him the fight. Yet they didn't. I know the internet forums blew up and people called one a cheater and called for an early stoppage. Yet the fighters didn't and who knows better, the person watching the fight or the guys in it?

So this ramble is not really a blog or an expert opinion, but this is just something that caught me off guard and made the fight just a little bit better for me. Am I still a huge Silva fan... Yes I am... Am I a Sonnen fan... Nope... but I fan hate him just a little bit less now.
