UIC 8: Mark Percival " It’s Going to be an All-out War"

Looking to make an "Impact" on August 4th at Ultimate Impact 8 in Cheltenham is Light Heavyweight Mark Percival. A rescheduled match-up against Chris Leavers should provide plenty of excitement for the crowd in attendance, Mark plans on having a war when the cage door closes and having also seen Chris in action before, I for one am not expecting anything less than fireworks from the bout.

So roll on August 4th when one of my most anticipated cards of the year finally comes around....

AddictedMMA: Hi Mark, your fight at Ultimate Impact Cagefighting 8 will soon be here; how is training going?

Mark: Hi Steve, training is going good at the moment, I'm putting in all the hours I can. I even done the three peak challenge this weekend for charity but it also turned into a great cardio workout as well.

AddictedMMA: Your opponent for UIC 8 has changed from Matt Gray to Chris Leavers. Has this changed the way you'll approach the fight or not?

Mark: No this doesn't change the way I will approach the fight.

Chris and I should have met at the last show (UIC 7) but unfortunately Chris suffered an injury one week away from fight night. So I'm really excited to get the chance to go to war with Chris this time round.

AddictedMMA: Chris is tough so you'll probably be in for a fight and a half on August 4th! Are you expecting an all-out war or do you see yourself getting the job done a lot quicker?

Mark: I always like to get the job done as quick as possible, but not having seen any of Chris' fights I'm not quite sure what to expect, but one thing is for sure, it's gonna be an all-out war whether it ends in round one or goes all the way.

AddictedMMA: There must be a lot of frustration built up inside you after your fight on UIC 7. How eager are you to put on a performance for the fans in attendance at UIC 8?

Mark: Yeah I was very disappointed with my last performance at UIC 7. I made a schoolboy error and got choked out early doors, so I am very eager indeed to set the record straight and get the win very convincingly at UIC 8.

AddictedMMA: Now the guys at UIC seem to be introducing belts within the promotion....So if you can get past Chris would you fancy the winner of Sam Mensah and Kevin Hutchinson for the light heavyweight title?

Mark: (Laughs) Sam and I have met before and since then have become very good friends, and we have always said that we couldn't fight each other again, but I wouldn't mind having a match up with Kevin Hutchinson.

AddictedMMA: The main event is the trilogy fight between Ben Constantine and Lee Caers, how do you see that fight going?

Mark: This fight could go either way, both are very good fighters with different styles so it's a hard one to call.... but I know you are going to want me to answer so I'm gonna go with Ben.

AddictedMMA: Is there anyone you'd like to thank or send a shout out to?

Mark: I would like to thank all my team at Team Force for all of their help getting me ready for this fight. I would also like to thank my sponsors Grange Jaguar.

The biggest thanks goes to my partner Natasha for supporting me, and my family without any of these people I wouldn't be able to do what I do.

Bring on fight night.

AddictedMMA: And now it's time....for our signature question! Aside from MMA what is Mark Percival Addicted to?

Mark: When I'm not training I love spending time with my three girls and my family as when I'm training I don't get to see them much.

AddictedMMA: Thanks for your time Mark and all the best for August 4th.

Mark: No worries; thanks for the interview, I can't wait for the 4th August!
