Warren Kee talks BAMMA 10 on AddictedMMA

Top UK welterweight Warren Kee (7-1) will head into BAMMA 10 next month looking to derail the Tom Breese steam train that has been flattening opponents since he turned pro in 2010. Warren (pic.) boasts an impressive record himself and after dropping his last fight to the highly ranked Bola Omoyele, Warren is looking to get back into the win column on September 15th. Training at Tsunami gym alongside the likes of UFC welterweight John Maguire as well as Luke Barnatt, Tommy Maguire, Jack Mason and rising star Arnold Allen, Warren is honing his game to be at his peak time the cage door shuts at Wembley Arena in six week's time....

AddictedMMA: Your start in MMA has been impressive with you racking up seven professional victories before you decided to switch teams and join the Cambridge based Tsunami Gym. How has this affected you as an athlete and what is it like joining a gym that is widely regarded as one of the top teams in the UK?

Warren: The move to Tsunami has been a great move for me. It took a while for my body to get used to the more intense training and training partners but it has been so rewarding for me as I am much better technically and fitter now.
The team is amazing and I feel privileged to be a part of it. There is so much quality here it's amazing.

AddictedMMA: You made the switch to Tsunami before your fight with Bola from Team Titan which didn't go your way and was your first professional loss. It's said that losing teaches you much more than winning. Is this the case for you, and do you feel changing teams had any effect on your performance?

Warren: I definitely feel you learn from it. Yeah, I have changed a lot of things since the fight both personally and professionally, so feel I am a much better person/fighter now.

Some things were different with a new team and it did have an effect but that needed to happen to progress. At the end of the day every fighter has things that go for/against them on the night but ultimately it's who does the business on fight night and Bola did and I didn't, so I was beat by the better man on the night.

AddictedMMA: Right, moving forward you have been slated to fight Tom Breese at Wembley Arena for BAMMA 10. How do you feel about joining the BAMMA ranks and having the opportunity to compete at Wembley?

Warren: It feels great to be competing on BAMMA and Wembley Arena is special too as it is where I watched my first big MMA show and I thought then how amazing it must feel to fight here and now I get to experience that.

AddictedMMA: Tom Breese is undefeated with a Professional record of 4-0, but also holds an impressive amateur record as well. He is regarded as a prospect in the UK and has had all four of his Pro fights with BAMMA. Have you ever seen him fight before and what are your thoughts on the contest?

Warren: Yeah I was at BAMMA 9 to watch my team mate Luke Barnatt fight so I saw Tom fight then. He completely controlled the fight and took the win. He is highly regarded as a top fighter and future star so I'm really looking forward to the fight.

I am in this sport to be the best I can be so I get excited about tough fights.

AddictedMMA: Following a defeat have you made any changes to your training / approach for this next fight?

Warren: I train the same but I have made massive changes in other areas that I feel have always held me back. I chased some fears I had for years and kicked them into touch so it was a proud moment for me.

AddictedMMA: You are known for being a very aggressive 'relentless' fighter when the cage door closes. Do you plan on displaying the same attitude for the BAMMA fans?

Warren: Yes it's definitely who I am. I have a great skill set also that I feel I have never shown so I will be bringing that too.

AddictedMMA: Now representing Tsunami Gym, where there are some fantastic WW's already floating around such as John Maguire & Jack Mason, do you feel more or less pressure when you come out to fight and have you learnt anything in particular from being with them?

Warren: No I don't feel any extra pressure as every fighter is normally their own worst critic. John and Jack are amazing and have helped me massively to progress and so has the rest of the team. I learn so much from all my teammates and coaches; I'm so lucky to be in this environment

AddictedMMA: We know it's hard for you to switch off following fights, so you have a rather interesting tactic to get you away from the gym... which is investing in ink on your body to force you to stay away! Any plans for your next tattoo following BAMMA?

Warren: Haha yeah I love them although the lads at the tattoo shop take the piss out of me because I get nervous before my sittings. I'm in the process of two half sleeves so I'll be getting them added too for sure.

AddictedMMA: Everyman wishes they had a poster of themselves like the iconic Muhammad Ali poster with him standing above Sunny Listen with the quote "I am the greatest" pasted on it or "Float Like a butterfly, sting like a bee" If you were to have a poster of yourself standing above Tom Breese after knocking him out at BAMMA 10... what would the quote say???

Warren: "One step closer to my dream"

AddictedMMA: Is there anyone who you'd like to thank?

Warren: Thank you to yourself for the interview and to all my teammates, coaches, friends and family that help me on a day to day basis as I would not be where I am without you.
