The main event will feature IanThe Machine Freeman against Ricco Suave Rodriguez, in the coming weeks further bouts will be released.
Freeman (22-7-1) who is an icon of UK MMA last competed inside the cage in June 2008 where he defeated Paul Cahoon in a one sided unanimous decision. Freeman's most famous momemt came at UFC 38 when he battered Frank Mir in London to defeat the future UFC Heavyweight Champion via a first round TKO.
Rodriguez (49-18) defeated Kevin Thompson via TKO at UWC as recently as last month to snap a four fight losing streak. Prior to that the former UFC Heavyweight Champion Rodriguez compiled a 12 fight win streak between July 2009 and July 2011.
UK MMA legend Freemna had this to say about the bout:
"I was meant to fight Ricco back in the old days of UFC; Ricco was the UFC Heavyweight Champion at the time, needless to say our fight never happened.
I watched Ricco fight at UWC 21 and thought he still looks good for an old guy. I mentioned this to the UWC owners and they said if you want to get that fight back we could possibly match you. I thought about it and said to myself hell yeah, why not.
The fight that was supposed to happen will now happen. Maybe years later, but two old school UFC warriors will now fight in my home town of Newcastle.... bring it on."
Tickets will be on sale as of the 1st December 2012.
