Mensah to make Middleweight Debut against McLeman at UIC 9

A stand-out middleweight bout has been added to the Ultimate Impact Cagefighting 9 card on February 23rd, 2013.

Trojan Free Fighters' Sam Mensah (4-2) will face the Macmillan Martial Arts trained Harry McLeman (2-0) in Cheltenham.

The bout will mark Sam Mensah's debut in the 185lb division. Formerly a light-heavyweight Mensah will look to use this bout to announce himself to middleweights up and down the country. A submission loss to Marcin Lazarz at BAMMA 11 on December 1st halted his two fight win streak which saw him finish two fights in an incredible 27 seconds. After finishing Nikki Kent in 19 seconds at UIC 8 Mensah followed that up with a KO of Mike Neun at BAMMA 10 in just eight seconds.

McLeman will look to upset Mensah's hometown fans as he enters the UIC cage, having impressively stopped the previously unbeaten Matt Gray at Staydown FC last month via rear-naked choke, he had previously knocked out tough veteran Milan Tomas in 2012.

Matchmaker Paul Sutherland had this to say about the bout;

"It's a great fight between two of the south west's biggest prospects. McLeman a great submission fighter and Mensah is a knock-out machine coming down to his natural weight class of 185lbs."

Ultimate Impact Cagefighting 9 "Vendetta" is shaping up to be a "don't miss" event, with Lee Caers looking to defend his welterweight title against Ashley Beaumont, add to that a lightweight title fight between Mario Saeed and Leon Rosser and the most talked about amateur bout in the UK between Frank Fellows and Will Stephenson.
