John Alessio vs. Shane Roller Set For UFC 148

UFC have added a lightweight scrap to the already stacked UFC 148 event, as veteran lightweight, John Alessio, will go up against former WEC standout, Shane Roller.

32 year old John "The Natural" Alessio (34-15) has already had two stints in the UFC, going back as far as a losing UFC 26 welterweight title shot against Pat Militech. Alessio returned to the promotion in 2006, losing two straight bouts to Diego Sanchez and Thiago Alves. Spells in MFC, WEC and Dream have led Alessio back to the worlds leading promotion, although he again lost, this time a short notice bout with Mark Bocek.

32 year old Shane Roller (10-6) is in desperate need of a win, having dropped his last three straight bouts. Roller enjoyed a fairly good spell in WEC, going 6-2, and only losing to former champions Anthony Pettis and Benson Henderson. After his UFC debut win over Thiago Tavares, Roller has now lost to Melvin Guillard, TJ Grant and Michael Johnson.

UFC 148 takes place Saturday, July 7th, and will feature a UFC Middleweight title fight between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen.
