UFC 149: Thiago Silva Forced Out Of Bout With Shogun Rua
The ever present UFC injury curse has struck again, as Brazilian slugger Thiago Silva has been forced to withdraw from his UFC 149 co-main event scrap with Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, due to an injury sustained in training. The injury leaves Shogun Rua (20-6) without an opponent for the Calgary event, although, according to UFC president Dana White, they already have someone in mind to replace him. That honour could fall to UFC's latest brutal brazilain light heavyweight star, Glover Teixeira (18-2), a man who recently scored a first round submission over Kyle Kingsbury at UFC 146.
Only one slight problem though, apparently Shogun's people simply don't want to fight Glover Teixeira. Here is the news straight from the boss mans mouth.
"With Thiago hurt, we turned to Glover and asked him to go right back in to fight 'Shogun' at UFC 149," White told MMAjunkie.com. But 'Shogun's' people are adamantly refusing to take the fight. They want nothing to do with Glover."
Regardless of being turned down, it appears that White and UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta are still trying to convince Shogun and his team to accept the fight.

UFC 149 takes place Saturday, July 21st, 2012.
