Report: Shinya Aoki Signs With One FCMoments after the final bell of One FC's June 23 event, an announcement was made regarding the next One FC card, which will be held August 31 at the Araneta Coliseum in Manila, Philippines.
But now, news of a possible headliner, and marquee signing for the promotion, has emerged across the MMA world.
BloodyElbow has reported that Asian MMA legend Shinya Aoki has signed with One FC and will debut on the previously mentioned August 31st card.
Aoki, 30-6-1 NC, was last seen on the wrong end of an Eddie Alvarez TKO back in April of this year at Bellator 66. The submission ace has previously won his last 7 fights, going back to his North American debut loss to Gilbert Melendez in April of 2010 at Strikeforce: Nashville.
Aoki has garnered much talk as not only the best submission fighter at 155 pounds, but perhaps in all of MMA. With this aggressive and sometimes unorthodox ground game, Aoki has been able to compile 19 submission wins over his 30 career victories.
Holding victories over fighters such as Eddie Alvarez, Rich Clementi, Lyle Beerbohm, Marcus Aurielo, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Joachim Hansen, Gesias Cavalcante and George Sotiropoulos, Aoki heads to One FC as a major fan favorite in the Asian market and should help to continue the massive charge One FC has been on since its start in 2011.
